Job Description
Dokona Papua Construction Limited is seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Procurement Officer to join our team in Port Moresby. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and acquisition of construction materials, tools, and equipment essential for our diverse project portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of construction logistics within Papua New Guinea and a relentless focus on meeting strict project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors, both locally and internationally, to ensure a steady supply of high-quality construction materials.
- Technical Verification: Review project specifications to accurately identify required materials (e.g., specific grades of steel, timber, aggregates, and specialized machinery) and ensure the correct items are ordered.
- Price Negotiation: Secure competitive pricing and favorable terms without compromising on quality or safety standards.
- Inventory & Logistics: Coordinate the timely delivery of materials to various sites, managing logistics to prevent project delays.
- Site Engagement: Conduct periodic site visits to verify material deliveries, assess stock levels, and understand the practical needs of the site teams.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, and inventory reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Industry Expertise: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in procurement, specifically within the construction or engineering sectors.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven ability to identify and differentiate construction materials, hardware, and specialized tools. You should be comfortable reading material take-offs and technical data sheets.
- Local Market Awareness: Strong knowledge of the PNG supply chain landscape and Port Moresby-based vendors.
- Time Management: Exceptional "time-conscious" mindset. You must demonstrate a track record of meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills to manage vendor relationships and internal stakeholder expectations.
- Education: A diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
